Learn Malay

Refunds and cancellation

Last updated 23 September 2026 · the Learn Malay app (iPhone, Android) and learn-malay.com

Week one is free, in full, so you can hear the course before you pay for it. After that, this page says how to stop paying and how to get money back. Where you bought decides who hands the money back — that part is not up to us — so the routes are set out separately below.

What we promise

If you bought through the App Store, Apple is the seller and Apple alone decides refunds — we cannot issue them. We will still put our promise above in writing to Apple in support of your request, and Apple almost always follows it. On Google Play and on the website we issue the refund ourselves.

How to cancel

Where you bought itHow to cancel
iPhone or iPadSettings → your name → Subscriptions → Learn Malay → Cancel. At least 24 hours before it renews.
AndroidGoogle Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Learn Malay → Cancel. At least 24 hours before it renews.
learn-malay.comIn the app: Settings → Subscription. Or the link on any receipt from Paddle, our payment provider for the website.
Classes with a tutorIn the app: Classes → your plan → Cancel. See “Classes” below for moving or cancelling a single class.

Cancelling always means “no further charges”. It never cuts the period you have already paid for short.

How to ask for a refund

Classes with a tutor

A class is someone’s working evening, so the rules are about notice rather than money.

Your rights under the law

If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK you have a statutory right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content within 14 days. Because the course opens the moment you pay, you are asked at checkout to agree that it starts immediately, which under that law ends the statutory right — so our own 30-day promise above stands in its place and is longer than the law requires. Buyers in Singapore, South Korea, Brazil, Canada, China, Turkey and Israel have their own shorter statutory cancellation windows, which our payment provider applies automatically; again, our promise is longer.

In Malaysia the Consumer Protection Act 1999 applies. Nothing on this page takes away a right that the law where you live does not allow us to take away.

Things that are not refunded

If we cannot agree

Write to hello@learn-malay.com and say so plainly; we would rather settle it than argue. For web purchases you may also take it up with Paddle, who took the payment, under the Paddle Checkout Buyer Terms. For App Store and Google Play purchases, Apple’s and Google’s own dispute routes are open to you.
